Daily drivel
I don’t have a whole lot to say today but decided I should make valiant attempts to keep this blog alive and well. I’m still tossing around ideas on what I can add to my website. There’s more content on here than ever before and it’s still lacking. I’ve added an online photo uploader along with a gallery browser. Aside from that there’s the standard links I’ve had in the past including old blogs of mine, “articles” I’ve written, and some potentially comedic IM conversations.
I can talk about my car. The car being used did not come with the original remote for the alarm and door locks. I’ve bought 3 remotes since then. The good thing about eBay is that you can almost find anything. The bad thing is that through deliberate mis-information or accidently unknowingness some items you purchase aren’t what they seem. The problem really is with my car. I searched for “2001 dodge stratus r/t remote” and came up with a wealth of links. Too bad the remote I purchased was incompatible with my car. Come to find out (after being charged 17 dollars to be told I have the wrong remote at the dealership) the model of my car is not actually a true Dodge car. It’s a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a Dodge body on it. Therefore my search for a remote was in vain. I needed to find one for an ‘01 Eclipse. I did find one and purchased it, but I still don’t have it. I’m not sure if it will work though, because the FCC ID on the back of it is not the same as the one on the remote that I have that DOES work. At any rate, I did find the right remote and was able to program it myself. I saved over 130 dollars by doing it this way as the dealership offered to order me the correct part for $110. I think not.
So far the car is great but there are a few problems I need to resolve. The two woofers, part of the 7 speaker Infinity system, in the door do not work. I’ve ruled out the head unit being the culprit but it could be the factory amp, or the speakers themselves. I’ll get to the bottom of this when the snow clears and weather warms up. The sunroof in the car is not a factory installed sunroof, it’s aftermarket that the dealership installed. The problem is the manufacturer is out of business and I need a new gear to work the damn thing. The gear is partially stripped which means it does nothing but click when I activate it. There’s also some creaking in the front of the car that could be bad engine mounts, or loose plastic. The engine also makes some weird noises when I start it up in the cold but it usuall goes away. It really sounds intake related but I haven’t looked into it. My main fear is that the timing belt was never replaced. Word is that if the timing belt snaps I could have a damaged valve as a result. Last but not least the steering wheel vibrates like hell when doing over 75 mph. This might have something to do with improperly inflated tires and bad wear on one side of the car’s tread. Who knows. I still love the car.
I’m off to a meeting for a new job setup.
